Singapore’s Representative Site to Conduct the Phase 4 Clinical Trials for the Latest Designed Multifocal Lens Implant (ReSTOR +3 ADD) for Presbyopia & Cataract Patients
Update as of March 2009: The trial has now ended and we have witnessed outstanding results. Results have shown that the lens still provides excellent distance vision and has shown to maintain good functional reading vision (newspaper font in the range of 40 -60cm). As a bonus, patients are now able to read computer fonts at extended ranges of around 70cm.
With our established repute in the field of Intra-Ocular Lens (IOL) implant surgeries (ie. Cataract Surgeries), EEC was handpicked by Alcon – to conduct a Phase 4 Clinical Trial outside of the US to evaluate the efficacy and performance of the latest designed multifocal lens implant – the ReSTOR +3.00 Add Multifocal Intraocular Lens.
Its predecessor, the Restor +4.00 Add has been known to be one of the leading multifocal intraocular lens implant. The lens has been and continues to be an excellent option for good distant and near vision but has been known for its lack of accommodation for intermediate distance (at 50cm or further), such as the use of computers. The ReSTOR +3.00 Add hopes to improve this area and still retain its trademark multifocality.
The trial proved successful as the lens has shown to still provide excellent distance vision while maintaining good functional reading vision (newspaper font in the range of 40 -60cm). As a bonus, patients are now able to read computer fonts at extended ranges of around 70cm.
Statistics accumulated through questionnaires have shown that patients with the ReSTOR +3.00 Add are reporting 20% better satisfaction in their overall vision. EEC has then presented the results of the clinical trials both locally, at the Continuing Medical Education at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and internationally at the World Ophthalmology Congress 2008, to medical professionals.
The Restor +3.00 lens has since been made commercially available in 2009. For more information about the lens, please contact us now at (65) 6456 1000 or drop us an email here.
