Diabetes, what you need to know.
Diabetes is a disease that affects the body’s ability to produce or respond to insulin, a hormone that allows blood glucose (Blood Sugar) to enter the cells of the body and be used for energy.
The first category of diabetes called Type 1 usually occurs during childhood or during adolescence. The most common form of the disease, which usually occurs after the age of 45 (currently being diagnosed in children and the adolescent), is called Type 2.
What is Diabetic Retinopathy?
Diabetic retinopathy refers to damages of the blood vessels in the eyes. When the blood sugar level gets too high, this could lead to blindness.
