This type of surgery is sometimes needed for the unfortunate few who have vision problems related to trauma, previous surgery, or congenital abnormalities. In some patients, the iris may have irregular shapes.
The iris is an important structure which determines the amount of light entering the light. An overly-large pupil will allow too much light into the eye, and cause glare. The images will not be in focus. An overly-small pupil will allow too little light into the eye, and images will be dark.
Eagle Eye Centre Techniques:
We offer specialized techniques to correct these pupil abnormalities with special sutures, and suturing techniques. In addition, we have a wide range of implants which can improve visual outcomes of such conditions. In the pictures below, you can see various iris abnormalities due to previous trauma, that are corrected with surgery. Though these surgeries can take a longer time, it is usually well worth the effort, as the visual outcomes are well-appreciated by patients.
The lens of the eye can also be malpositioned due to a variety of causes, ranging from trauma to previous surgery. We offer a range of specialized lens-replacement surgeries to improve visual outcomes in cases where lens support in the eye is inadequate. We often deal with complicated lens surgeries that most general eye surgeons have difficulty with.
