Overview
Bladeless LASIK makes use of a femtosecond laser to create the flap instead of a mechanical microkeratome (an automated blade).
The rest of the procedure is exactly the same as LASIK. It is believed that the laser is able to create a flap more safely and consistently.
At Eagle Eye Centre, we use an advanced femtosecond surgical laser, the Ziemer’s FEMTO LDV Z6 to do this procedure.
EEC is presently the only centre in Singapore to have acquired this machine. Visit our EagleLASIK Technology page to find out more about this machine here.
Unlike the Intralase, which requires the patient to have a flap created at a separate sitting, the Ziemer’s FEMTO LDV is a compact machine that allows the entire procedure to be seamlessly performed at the same sitting.
More importantly, the Ziemer’s FEMTO LDV laser fires at a much faster rate and uses much smaller spots to create the flap, thus creating a more complete, repeatable and smoother cornea flap.
With the acquisition of this latest technology, there has been a surge in demand for LASIK at EEC with this Bladeless LASIK procedure being the most sought after.
